At the very end of 2025, we completed a series of underwater survey days in collaboration with Israel Nature and Parks Authority and the Sponge Research Laboratory of Prof. Micha Ilan at Tel Aviv University.
The surveys were carried out along the Israeli coastline, at depths ranging from 10 to 100 meters, and provided an excellent opportunity to test our new ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle).
During this project, we worked with a configuration based on battery-powered operation combined with a fiber-optic communication tether – a setup that enables maximum flexibility in depth and operation.
What Was Special This Time?
Dynamic Operations
We conducted dives both while the vessel was stationary and while the research vessel MedEx Research Vessel (EcoOcean) was underway, following survey lines of up to 2.5 km.
Stable Maneuvering
The combination of the ROV’s powerful thrusters and the thin communication tether allowed us to maintain high stability, even while the vessel above was moving and under non-ideal sea conditions.
Image Quality
The 4K camera delivered cinematic-quality documentation of marine life in its natural habitat
(wait for the end of the video).
We are proud to take part in research that helps protect our marine environment.
